You're the person who decides what the team works on next, and why. Not based on gut feel or whoever shouted loudest in the last meeting. Based on real customer problems, clear strategic logic, and evidence you went and found yourself.

You'll be working inside a small building team: agentic engineers, a product designer, and a data scientist. You write the problem statements they work from. You maintain the roadmap. You close the loop after delivery to check whether the thing you shipped actually solved the thing you thought it would.

You're also a line manager. This is not a footnote - you'll have a Product Lead and two Product Designers reporting to you, and you'll be expected to coach them seriously, not just check in occasionally.

And you do all of this AI-first. Not because it sounds good on a job posting. This role is for someone who has already automated chunks of their own workflow and can help others do the same.

Sound like you? Keep reading.

🎯 What this role is actually about

You own the upstream work that makes the building team effective. That means clear, well-grounded problem statements before engineering starts. A roadmap that reflects both what customers need now and where the company is going. And a feedback loop that doesn't stop at shipped.

You're also the person who carries agentic engineering thinking into the product function. You don't need to write the code, but you need to understand what agentic systems can do, get excited about it, and push the team to build with that lens. Experience in the energy sector helps, but if we had to choose, agentic engineering mindset wins.

You report directly to the CGO and are a key voice in product strategy conversations.

🗓️ What your week looks like

A good chunk of your time you're doing PM work. Customer interviews, reviewing usage data, picking up signals from the market. Writing problem statements the team can actually act on. Prioritising with real trade-offs. Keeping the CPTO and the rest of the team aligned without it becoming a full-time stakeholder management job.

The rest you're leading people. Coaching your Product Lead and designers. Giving real feedback, not just encouragement. Thinking about how the people around you are growing and what they need from you to get there.

Threading through all of it: AI. How do you stay on top of what customers and sales and delivery are telling you? You're not sitting in every meeting. You're building information streams that work without you being present, and you're helping your team do the same.
