Product Marketing Team at Shine
Our Product Marketing team is dedicated to translating Shine's product vision into market impact, defining how our Invoicing & Accounting products are positioned, launched, and adopted across every market we operate in. We sit inside the Global Accounting Tribe, working closely with Product to shape narratives that are as sharp in Berlin as they are in Paris or Copenhagen.
The German Business Unit is where that global vision meets local reality. The team in Germany is responsible for growing Shine's customer base in one of Europe's most competitive SMB markets — driving acquisition, activation, and retention across a customer base that spans freelancers, small business owners, and their tax advisors. It's a team with a clear commercial mandate and deep roots in the everyday realities of running a business in Germany.
This role sits at the intersection of both, bringing global positioning to life in the German market, and feeding local market intelligence back into the product.
Your Role as a Senior Product Marketing Manager
As Senior Product Marketing Manager, you will own how Shine's Invoicing & Accounting products reaches, lands with, and grows its customer base in the German market. The role sits inside the Global Accounting Tribe (Product) and operate as the product-side counterpart to the German Business Unit Lead (Revenue), jointly driving market-level revenue outcomes by translating global positioning and product strategy into locally relevant GTM activity, competitive intelligence, and lifecycle outcomes.
Success in this role means measurable impact on acquisition, activation, adoption, and retention: the product clearly positioned against local competition, and a reliable flow of market insight feeding the roadmap in close partnership with Product Managers.
What Makes This Role Distinct
Most Product Marketing Management roles ask you to position one product in one market. This role asks you to do something harder: hold two products in productive tension, protect an established brand while validating a new one, and author the transition story that brings customers from the old world to the new — without losing them along the way. If you've done this kind of work before navigating a portfolio, managing a migration narrative, winning in a competitive market mid-transition, we want to talk to you.
What you'll be doing
This role reports functionally into Product Marketing but operates day-to-day as part of the German Business Unit, partnering closely with the BU Lead on activity, revenue, and commercial prioritisation. The role spans the full arc from market understanding to in-market execution, with insights feeding back into the product and roadmap.
Market & competitive intelligence: Sizing the market and tracking trends. Continuous monitoring of the local competitive landscape and global challengers as leading-signal proxies. Maintain positioning differentiators and pricing benchmarks. Synthesise findings into actionable recommendations for stakeholders
Customer understanding & segmentation: Own the ongoing research rhythm in Germany: in-app feedback, surveys, user interviews, behavioural data, and CS/Sales debriefs. Identify underserved segments or unaddressed use cases in the market.
Whitespace & Opportunities: Size opportunities in local and global context and flag signals relevant to roadmap prioritisation. Collaborate with PMs on locally relevant discovery where market specifics shape what gets built.
Positioning, Offer & Go-To-Market: Localise global positioning, messaging, and product narrative for the German market. Define locally relevant proof points and competitive angles per segment. Provide input on plan differentiation, value proposition per tier, and upsell triggers. Lead GTM execution in-market — launches, campaigns, messaging rollouts — with a high degree of hands-on ownership.
Product presence & lifecycle: Own the product from first impression to ongoing engagement: how it's presented on the German website, through activation flows, in-app messaging, and onboarding. Drive adoption and retention activity tied to usage milestones; own customer education and feature awareness. Accountable for market-level activity outcomes.
Sales & CS enablement: Equip local Sales and CS teams with the materials they need to have better conversations: messaging guides, competitive battlecards, objection-handling frameworks, and launch briefings.
What you bring
Years of experience: Relevant experience of product marketing experience across the full PMM remit, with demonstrated delivery on positioning, go-to-market and cross-functional initiatives especially in fintech or banking industries.
Portfolio positioning & transition narrative: Able to hold two products at different maturity stages in a single coherent market view — protecting established positioning while validating what comes next.
Market & competitive analysis: Ability to size a market, track a competitive landscape systematically, and translate signals into prioritised positioning recommendations. Able to distil a complex product into a segment-specific value proposition and express it across channels — written to a high standard, adapted by audience and format.
Go-to-market execution: Plans and runs launches end-to-end - messaging, channels, campaigns and internal enablement - and coordinates cleanly across Customer Support, Sales and Marketing.
Pricing & commercial acumen: Working knowledge of pricing theory (value-based pricing, willingness-to-pay, tiered packaging). Able to evaluate offer structure, articulate upsell reasoning in commercial terms, and provide credible input on plan differentiation.
Customer research & data fluency: Comfortable designing and running qualitative research (user interviews, surveys) and interpreting quantitative data (behavioural dashboards, funnel metrics). Knows which method fits which question
Cross-functional ownership & influence: Drives PMM-led work independently, cooperates with colleagues from Product and Revenue with ease. Takes responsibility for activity outcomes.
Language proficiency: Full professional fluency in German and English, able to produce high-quality written and verbal communication in both.
