JOB TITLE:  Product Owner - Data

SALARY: £61,344 - £68,160

LOCATION(S): Chester or Manchester

HOURS: Full-time

WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites. Colleagues with disabilities can be supported with workplace adjustments including hybrid working expectations in line with our Flexibility Works policy.

What you’ll be doing

Why not join our forward-thinking Consumer Data Lab as we embark on a ground-breaking journey towards a data-driven future. We’re seeking a hardworking Product Owner to support our data transformation initiatives and contribute to the development of a modern data platform powered by consumer data products.

As a Product Owner within our Lab, you'll be at the forefront of transforming the way we serve our customers. This is an outstanding opportunity to bring to bear your technical expertise and leadership skills to drive world-class solutions in a fast-paced, ambitious environment. You’ll have a direct impact on our success, ensuring that our products not only meet but exceed customer expectations.

Day to day, you’ll own and evolve the product backlog for data‑driven initiatives across Consumer Lending and Consumer Relationships, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with engineering and design within cross‑functional teams to define, prioritise and deliver product goals, translating business needs into clear, prioritised user stories and acceptance criteria. You’ll lead sprint planning and backlog refinement to keep delivery on track, act as the voice of the customer and business by balancing technical feasibility with commercial value, and provide oversight of delivery progress, risks and dependencies across multiple squads, supporting the successful implementation of product features and improvements.

Why join us?

We’re on an exciting journey to transform our Group and the way we’re shaping finance for good. We’re focusing on the future, investing in our technologies, workplaces, and colleagues to make our Group a great place for everyone.

What we’re looking for?

  • 4 years experience as a Product Owner, ideally working within a role in a data-rich environment or similar.
  • Solid understanding of data engineering concepts, including data pipelines, cloud platforms (e.g. GCP, Cloud, Kafka), and data governance.
  • Proven ability to drive delivery in agile environments, handling contending priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent collaborator leadership skills, with the ability to influence across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience working with cross-functional squads, including data designers, engineers, and customer journey managers.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Consumer Lending products and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and data visualisation platforms.
