Do you want to shape the future of customer-focused products?
Can you turn customer insight into product innovation?
Location: UK (London Wall)
About Our Team
Our team owns Identity, Access and API Management for Elsevier. We're focused on making access to our products frictionless and secure — driving innovation and modern access solutions that make customer onboarding easier and authentication seamless, without compromising security. We work collaboratively across Product, Technology, Design, Data, Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to solve real customer access challenges. We value curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement, and are committed to delivering exceptional experiences for our customers.
About the Role
As a Product Manager II on our team, you will work toward owning the end-to-end value and outcomes of product features — from discovery through to delivery. You will act as the voice of the customer, using market insight, customer feedback, and data to identify opportunities and define solutions that make product access and onboarding seamless — while meeting Elsevier's security and compliance bar.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will drive product requirements through specs for your feature area (using genAI and Spec-Driven Development (SDD) as part of your process), execute against the roadmap, and keep your features running well day to day. This role is ideal for a product professional who enjoys combining customer insight, a user-centric approach and applying data-driven decision-making to deliver solutions.
You'll build toward that end-to-end ownership starting with a hands-on placement on our API Management product. You'll partner directly with one or two engineering squads, running discovery through to delivery for your slice of the product, within an overall roadmap and prioritisation set by our senior Product Manager. From there, you'll grow into progressively larger scope, working toward owning the full arc of discovery, delivery, and outcomes for your own product area.
Responsibilities
- Own discovery and requirements for several product areas through the product lifecycle — including cross-product functionality (collaborating with other teams within the wider Identity and Access group) and end-to-end release process including collaboration with go-to-market.
- Own a sub-set of product functionality throughout its entire lifecycle, from discovery to successful release and ongoing performance monitoring. This often includes cross-product functionality, requiring successful collaboration and alignment with other product teams within the Identity and Access space.
- Directly support 1-2 engineering squads by answering engineering queries, using user-research insights and customer feedback to drive new product functionality and collaborating with user experience to ensure the functionality delivered delights users.
- Gather customer insights and translate them into product requirements and solutions.
- Use data, customer feedback, and market analysis to drive product decisions.
- Own ongoing product functionality go-to-market and support, including stakeholder communications for your product area
- Own how success metrics are defined and calculated, ensuring they reflect business outcomes.
- Collaborate with UX, analytics and other teams to deliver high-quality product enhancements.
- Effectively prioritise customer issues, defects, and feature requests for resolution against ongoing product roadmap..
Requirements
- Proven Product Management experience, typically with 4-6 years in a product-focused role.
- Experience owning products, features, or significant areas of product functionality. Experience with API driven products is a plus.
- Strong customer focus with the ability to identify and solve customer problems.
- Demonstrated success delivering product improvements with measurable business impact.
- Excellent analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Experience working within Agile software development environments.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of product strategy and business objectives.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; a technical or business-related degree is preferred.
