Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be a technical expert for a specific product or system or its components. Each day, you will act as the primary contact in Research and Development (R&D) for (market-facing) Product Management and will support them on product-related issues. You will also showcase your expertise by driving the technical direction of development (e.g. acting as product owner in an agile team) and by organizing product maintenance.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Automation - Energy Industries. The main stakeholders are the product & Innovation Team for Automation and Electrification.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Providing input regarding product technology content or development based on a solid understanding of ABB’s technology landscape, state-of-the-art external technology, and current or future customer needs.
  • Identify emerging AI opportunities that improve engineering efficiency, plant performance and asset reliability or safety.
  • Ensure proper integration of AI functionalities into automation engineering tools, including control systems configuration, digital twins and simulation Tools
  • Contributing actively to the quality of the product or system, meeting functional and non-functional (e.g., performance, cost) requirements.
  • Creating and translating the product vision into actionable steps by following an agreed direction in R&D.
  • Ensuring protection of newly created IP embedded in the product and assisting in defense and enforcement activities against competition.

Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Computer Science, Software Engineering) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with AI/ML Technologies and data analytics.
  • proven ability to lead across functional teams and manage complex technical products.
  • Minimum 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Fluency on written and spoken English
  • ability to handle multiple stakeholders and work across different teams
  • Average of 30% Travel required across Europe & India
